Pet Wellness Exams in Edmonton, Alberta

Like the yearly checkups that many humans get, this exam should occur at least once a year, even for exotic pets. There are various components in a pet wellness exam. To learn more, read on!

What Does a Pet Wellness Exam Include?

Pet Vaccinations

One essential part of a wellness exam at our animal hospital is administering any required pet vaccinations. Vaccines can keep your pet from getting a wide variety of different diseases. Based on lifestyle and subsequent risk, we can discuss an individualized vaccination plan to keep your pet healthy.  Our professionally trained staff will administer these shots quickly and gently so that your pet will hardly feel them at all.

Pet Dental Check-Up

We always make sure to check your pet’s teeth as part of our pet wellness exam. Unfortunately, many pets have poor dental health, and we see common pet dental problems in most species, which can lead to pain, tooth extractions, and even oral surgery. At Harvest Pointe Animal Hospital, we understand that pet dental health affects more than just teeth, and we take it seriously.

Pesky Parasites

Fleas, ticks, mites, and worms are a common problem for dogs and cats as well as rabbits, reptiles and birds. We’ll be sure to check your pets for fleas and ticks when they come in for their exams. We can also perform fecal testing for intestinal parasites, particularly for exotics like reptiles and birds. And of course, if we discover fleas, ticks, or worms, we’ll make sure your pets get the treatment they need!
